How does this relate to public relations?
Working in a newsroom helped shape how I think about public relations.
Producing and packaging news stories requires structure and good judgment under a deadline, deciding what matters, how it should be framed, and how it will land with an audience. Understanding how newsrooms operate is essential for public relations practitioners, particularly when pitching stories that align with editorial and production realities.
Having worked inside a newsroom, I approach my public relations work with a clear understanding of how stories are created, timed, and shaped for a live broadcast, which in turn informs how I write pitches, frame messages and build relationships with the media.
